Arrest Made in Case of Alleged Rape of 14-Year-Old in Delhi

A 14-year-old girl was reportedly subjected to sexual assault by her mother’s live-in partner in the Burari area of north Delhi, as per police statements on Wednesday.

The Burari police station has registered a case under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused, identified as Ankit Yadav (29) from Loni in Ghaziabad, was apprehended and subsequently sent to jail.

According to the FIR, the woman, a mother of three from a prior marriage, left her husband eight years ago and has been in a live-in relationship with Yadav, who works as a bus driver. The alleged incident occurred on July 23, while the woman was in the hospital, leaving her children at home. It is claimed that Ankit took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted the minor. The victim reported the matter to the police, prompting immediate legal action.

The senior police officer noted, “He threatened her and has committed the act on previous occasions as well.” The survivor underwent medical examination and counseling, with a statement recorded under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The accused, Ankit Yadav, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
