Singapore Orders Removal of “Insensitive” Israeli Embassy Post on Palestinians

Singaporean authorities have taken swift action against an “insensitive” social media post by the Israeli embassy concerning Palestinians, ordering its removal to prevent potential tensions from escalating.

The Israeli embassy’s post, which reportedly compared references to Israel and Palestine in the Quran, was deemed inappropriate by Singapore’s Minister for Home Affairs, K Shanmugam. Following his directive, Singapore’s foreign ministry intervened, instructing the embassy to take down the post, which it promptly did.

Minister Shanmugam expressed his dismay over the post, highlighting its potential to disrupt Singapore’s safety, security, and social harmony. He emphasized the need to prevent such inflammatory content from endangering the local Jewish community and exacerbating tensions.

Singapore has condemned Hamas attacks on Israel while also expressing concern over Israel’s military response. The recent conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in significant casualties, prompting international attention and concern.

The Israeli embassy has not yet commented on the incident.
