C. Sylendra Babu, a name synonymous with dedication, fitness, and accessibility, is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who served with distinction for over 36 years. Born on June 5, 1962, in Kuzhithurai village, Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, Sylendra Babu’s journey exemplifies hard work and a commitment to public service. However, it is known that he belonged to the 1987 batch of IPS officers, indicating a strong academic foundation that paved the way for his successful career.

Sylendra Babu’s service record within the Tamil Nadu Police is remarkable. He served in various capacities, including Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Dharmapuri, Gobichettipalayam, Salem, and Dindigul districts. He rose through the ranks, taking on the responsibilities of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Chengalpattu, Sivagangai, Cuddalore, and Kancheepuram districts. Additionally, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Adayar, Chennai.

Sylendra Babu’s dedication extended beyond routine police work. He held leadership positions in the prison and fire and rescue services departments, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to public safety across various domains. Notably, he is credited with creating the first line of coastal defense by establishing marine police stations during his tenure with the Coastal Security Group-CID.
