Tragedy Strikes: Cameraman Killed in Elephant Attack While Reporting in Kerala

AV Mukesh, a 34-year-old cameraman with Mathrubhumi News, met with a fatal end while covering a wild elephant herd’s movements in Palakkad district. Despite efforts to escape, Mukesh succumbed to injuries inflicted by one of the elephants.

Hailing from Malappuram district, Mukesh was a dedicated journalist who had been working with Mathrubhumi News for a year. Known for his compassionate reporting, he penned over 100 articles highlighting the struggles of marginalized communities in his column ‘Athijeevanam’.

Mukesh’s colleagues fondly remembered his commitment to helping those he wrote about, often providing financial assistance from his own salary. His untimely demise has left a void in both the journalism community and the lives of those he touched.

Leaders across Kerala, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, offered their condolences, recognizing Mukesh’s invaluable contributions to journalism and society.
