One netizen remarked, “No Maldives, Only Lakshadweep,” while another urged, “Lakshadweep ki taraf rukh kariye (Turn your attention towards Lakshadweep now).” Another comment read, “Tumko mana kiya tha naa Maldives jaane se (Had asked you not to visit Maldives).” Numerous Instagram users expressed “Boycott Maldives” on her now-deleted post.

The outrage directed at the Maldives commenced after certain ministers from the island nation made derogatory remarks about India and Prime Minister Modi following his sharing of images and videos from his Lakshadweep trip. Social media users responded by advocating for Lakshadweep as an alternate vacation destination to Maldives, promoting the hashtag #BoycottMaldives.

Several Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan, Sara Ali Khan, and Kangana Ranaut, suggested Lakshadweep as a viable tourism alternative amid the ongoing controversy.
