Tamil Nadu MP Hospitalized After Consuming Pesticide

Erode, Tamil Nadu: A. Ganeshamoorthy, the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Erode constituency in Tamil Nadu, has been hospitalized after allegedly consuming pesticide, stirring concern among political circles.

Ganeshamoorthy, affiliated with the MDMK and elected on a DMK ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, was admitted to a private hospital by his family members. Reports suggest he complained of uneasiness and began vomiting in the morning, indicating a possible poisoning.

According to sources close to the matter, Ganeshamoorthy disclosed to his family members that he had ingested pesticide. Following medical examinations, he was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) and put on a ventilator, as confirmed by local authorities.

Later in the day, he was shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore around 2:30 pm, accompanied by medical personnel and family members.

The severity of his condition was underscored by MDMK leader Durai Vaiko, who visited the hospital and stated that Ganeshamoorthy was in critical condition and receiving ECMO treatment.

Political figures, including S. Muthusamy, state Minister for Urban Development and Housing and Excise and Prohibition, and Dr. C. Saraswathy, BJP MLA of Modakurichi, along with K.V Ramalingam of the AIADMK, rushed to the hospital to inquire about Ganeshamoorthy’s health.

The incident has sparked concern and speculation within the political arena, with further details awaited as the situation develops.
