Cricket Stadium Promise Added to DMK Manifesto by Sports Enthusiast MK Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has unveiled a new pledge in the DMK’s election manifesto: the establishment of a cutting-edge cricket stadium in Coimbatore.

In a social media post shared by state Minister of Industries TRB Rajaa, Stalin expressed his passion for sports and cricket, stating, “As a sports and cricket enthusiast, I would like to add one more promise to our election manifesto for Elections 2024: We will take efforts to establish a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore, with the active participation of the sports-loving people of Coimbatore.”

Stalin emphasized the significance of this initiative, highlighting Coimbatore’s potential to become home to Tamil Nadu’s second international-standard cricket venue, following Chennai’s renowned MAC stadium. He underscored the government’s commitment, alongside Sports Minister Udhaystalin, to foster talent and enhance sports infrastructure across Tamil Nadu.

Presently, Tamil Nadu boasts the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, established in 1916.

Minister TRB Rajaa emphasized the necessity for enhanced sports infrastructure in Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu as a whole. He highlighted Coimbatore’s fervor for various sports, including cricket, and its contribution to nurturing national cricketing talent.

Rajaa envisioned the new stadium as a global benchmark for sustainability and excellence in cricketing infrastructure.

The DMK, in alliance with the Congress, forms a crucial part of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.

Tamil Nadu is scheduled to vote in the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, with results slated for announcement on June 4.
