Student falls to death from college at Chengalpet

The Chengalpet Taluk police have registered a case under section 174(unnatural death)and sent her body for post-mortem.

Chennai: A 19-year-old student of a private college in Chengalpet allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of the college building on Wednesday evening.

The student was identified as B. Krishna Priya (19) daughter of Balaraman, a farmer. A native of Valayampattu in Villupuram, Krishna Priya was pursuing third-year B Sc in Mathematics. Police said the incident took place at around 5 pm on Wednesday.

She was living in Kalpakkam township at her brother’s home and was attending classes at the Vidhya Sagar College of Arts and Science in Chengalpet.
Sources said she was standing near the balcony on the second floor on Wednesday evening when she suddenly jumped from the building. Hearing her cries, the students rushed her to a private hospital in Chengalpet. At around 8 pm on Wednesday, she was shifted to the Chengalpet Government medical college but she succumbed to her injuries in an hour.

The Chengalpet Taluk police have registered a case under section 174( unnatural death )and sent her body for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.
