Tamil actor Varalakshmi dismisses reports on NIA summons
Expressing shock over the news reports, Varalaksmi said she would be happy to be of assistance to the government in any way possible.
Tamil actor Varalakshmi Sarathkumar has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to dismiss reports on her being summoned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in relation to a case involving her former manager, Adi Lingam.
Last week, the Press Trust of India quoted an official as saying that Lingam alias Adi Lingam has been arrested in the LTTE revival conspiracy case involving illegal drugs and arms trade in Sri Lanka and India. He was among the 14 persons arrested in connection to the illegal drugs and arms trade case registered by the NIA in July last year, PTI added.
On Tuesday, actor Varalakshmi claimed all the news that had been circulating about NIA summoning her are ‘false and mere rumors’.
“Mr Adilingam has worked with me only for a brief period 3 years ago as a freelance manager. During this period I was also simultaneously working with many other freelance managers. After his tenure, we’ve not had any association or communication with each other till date,” she said.
Expressing shock over the news reports, Varalaksmi said she would be happy to be of assistance to the government in any way possible.
“It’s disappointing that celebrities are being used and pulled into news these days without any truth or clarifications from the involved persons. I request the media to publish articles and information based on facts rather than to speculate at the humongous cost of reputation,” she added.
