Chennai police have made changes in the traffic in view of the summit between the two leaders.

In view of the informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mamallapuram, police have decided to partially close ECR, OMR and GST Road for two days from October 11. Educational institution, IT companies, commercial establishments and the general public have been advised to plan their travel in advance.

On both days, heavy trucks, water tankers and commercial vehicles are barred from operating between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.

The Chennai City Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions for two days which could result in heavy traffic congestion.

October 11 from 12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

All vehicles coming into the city from Perungalathur on GST Road will be diverted via Maduravoyal Outer Ring Road. Vehicles proceeding from south Chennai towards the city will be diverted through Pallavaram Radial Road, Chromepet and Tambaram to take the Maduravoyal ORR. Vehicles from Tambaram and Chromepet will be allowed to use Pallavaram Radial Road.

October 11 From 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Vehicles coming on GST Road towards the city will be barred from entering Guindy and diverted at Kathipara flyover to take the Jawaharlal Nehru Salai.

October 11 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Vehicles coming from Rajiv Gandhi Salai will be diverted at Sholinganallur junction via Perumbakkam road. Also vehicles on ECR will not be allowed to proceed beyond Akkarai towards Muttukadu.

October 12 from 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All vehicles coming to the city on Rajiv Gandhi Salai will be diverted at the Sholinganallur junction towards Perumbakkam road.

October 12 from 7 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Vehicles on ECR will not be allowed to proceed beyond Akkarai towards Muttukadu.
